Self-esteem

                                     Tradition: Christians with low self-esteem
must find ways to boost their self-esteem
Truth: Christians must realize and experience God's esteem

This term self-esteem has found its way into the Christian counseling community and has been labeled as one of the major problems facing many Christians today, especially Christian women. However, the Bible gives a far different cure for this malady and it is called God's esteem!  God, after we become His child, places a great value on His children for we become joint heirs with Christ the moment we are saved.

This exalted position that God places us in must be viewed from His vantage point in order for us to realize who we are, and just how much esteem He places on each one of His blessed children!

In order to accomplish this blessed task we must make ourselves intimately familiar with all of the spiritual blessings we inherit when God places us in Christ. Theses two words "in Christ" can be found in the Book of Ephesians (35) times. In the first three chapters of this most profound of all of Paul's writings we also will find over twenty different spiritual blessings, describing just who we were, who we are, and who we will be!

If you want a good dose of God's esteem try reading these three chapters out loud each day for thirty days and see if that case of low self-esteem doesn't find wings and fly away! If your have been born again the Bible way my friend, you are a Child of the King!!

You have become a Partaker of the Inheritance, this is not only something that we will inherit in the future, but it is an inheritance that we can partake of right now!!

     In addition, the Lord tells:
"Let each esteem others better than themselves"(Philippians 2:3); "Not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."(Romans 12:3)

The opposite of God's way of thinking is to regard oneself more highly than we ought and become puffed up with pride which is usually the end result of one finding ways to boost their self-esteem...exactly the opposite of what the Lord teaches in His Word!

It is obvious that this is not God's way of solving the problem of low self-esteem, no, if we focus on God's esteem as recommended above, we will rejoice in what He has done, and will continue to do for us throughout this life and the eternity to come!
